The debut of Carmen on August 10 did

much, especially in the aria from the third act, while Boyagian's Escamillo

della lirica, dei concerti e del balletto. Carmen, dunque, in edizione originale francese, con la regia di mauro
Bolognini , rimasta sul tradizionale per quanto riguarda i movimenti di
massa; il regista ha preferito privilegiare la presenza dei protagonisti, ed
tornato per questo l'altra sera, da Macerata a Verona, dove aveva firmato
La Traviata, per gli ultimi ritocchi. S' avuta l'impressione che in
particolare il regista abbia "curato" Gail Gilmore, che apparsa
completamente trasformata rispetto ad una impacciata prova generale. Carmen ha trovato nel giovane mezzosoprano statunitense tutta la sua
dimensione di donna calda , pronta a seguire l'istinto animalesco pi che il
cuore. Gail Gilmore diventata una Carmen sexy, invitante e sfrontata: la
giovane americana, che alle spalle ha solo un'apparizione alla Fenice di
Venezia ed un'Amneris in un'Aida areniana, ha saputo affascinare e
conquistare il pubblico. Non ricorda la Carmen della Simionato, ma ha una
grande presa sulla gente, un magnetismo che conquista. Ma se la presenza fisica della Gilmore domina la scena, certamente la
presenza artistica di vero spessore quella di Jos Carreras. Ai due grandi protagonisti della serata va unita Mietta Sighele, una
sensibile Micaela molto apprezzata soprattuto nell'aria del terzo tempo,
mentre ha deluso l'Escamillo di Boyagian. -f.r.- |
